Tangent was born out of a simple idea:
I began the project with a circle forming the letter ‘o’ and after squaring off one corner, ended up with a letter ‘o’ I hadn’t seen elsewhere; this for me was motivation enough to see if I could complete the alphabet. Initially sketching out the characters to get an overview, I employed the angle wherever possible to create the tangential style of this particular typeface. I’m fortunate the name I chose hadn’t been taken as it describes the font perfectly!
This variation of ‘Tangent’ continues with the angles that give it the name but elsewhere the square ends are half-rounded to create a softer and slightly fluid version.
