Art deco all caps 6 weights typeface
Anisette was created in reference to the work of Cassandre & the Art Deco period. During the thirties, encouraged by Maximilien Vox, Deberny & Peignot created the very geometrical Banjo initials in one hairline weight designed as initials to match Futura sold by the French foundry under the name Europe. Anisette designed in 1996 by Jean François Porchez is not a strict revival by itself, but a new typeface based on this early idea of double width capitals. Arranged in 6 weights with unique capitals ligatures, Anisette is an all caps face with subtle tensions in rounded forms. The extreme weights push for playful headlings setting, branding work. The narrow caps are placed in lowercase positions & large caps placed in uppercase positions.
Anisette Petite is the matching family featuring lowercases and capitals.
