Anacharsis is a modernist geometric sans serif typeface, following the path of Futura, Simplex or Semplicità . Its shapes and proportions are based on the Rotunda black letter, soft, rounded, with a ‘southerly’ feel, such as was in common use across Southern Europe in the 15th century.
Dark and strong, Anacharsis has two series of alternate glyphs. It offers rounded capitals (E F H I J M N P S T V W Y) as those used by mediaeval copyists. Some lower case characters also have archaic alternates (a d h l s v w y). These variations can be accessed through Open Type, but are not initially activated in the typeface, so that Anarchasis may be used as a simple and elegant sans serif.
